Artist: Pauline Napangardi Gallagher Warlukurlangu Artists, Yuendumu Country: Pikilyi, NT
Warlukurlangu Artists is based in Yuendumu, about three and a half hours drive NW of Alice Springs. Established in 1985, it is one of the most significant Aboriginal art centres in Australia. Over 400men, women and children make up the membership of the Association, open to Warlpiri and Anmatyerre people from Yuendumu and surrounding homelands. The art centre is 100% Aboriginal owned, and as befits its non-profit making status, returns over two thirds of the proceeds from sales of artworks to its membership.
