This earthy and vibrant artwork  depicts journeys trails, made across our country by Aboriginal people. Lines flowing both horizontally and vertically hold a twofold meaning, Highlighting the many well-known song lines, journey trails and trade routes taken by Aboriginal people over generations and also a tapestry portraying intermingles relationships as we travel through life together.

About the Design - Bantimita - Message Stick
This artwork is symbolic of Aboriginal message sticks, depicted by the horizontal carved lines within the work. Messages were painted and  inscribed on a stick, which was then transported by hand. Typical messages inscribed on the stick by painting, carving or burning would be announcements of ceremonies, disputes, invitations, warnings, meetings, events and happenings

About the Artist
Saretta is an Aboriginal woman from the Wonaruah Nation of the Upper Hunter Valley, New South Wales and draws her artistic inspiration from traditional rock carvings from sites located throughout Mt Yengo National Park, NSW.  Saretta reflects this within her artworks with an added contemporary flair which is intriguing to the viewer inviting them to savour, connect and learn more about this rich and alive culture of Aboriginal Australia.  Saretta uses a method developed over 15 years using sand to recreate the rock surface including engravements of ancient Australian symbols that bring together family, life experiences and nature's beauty, evoking emotion while enhancing connection to spirit and country.
